Hello, My name is Tamra and I am an avid hiker located in Upstate New York. I created this page to document and share my adventures on the trail while I push my mind and body to strive for inner peace.
I started hiking back in 2018 when a friend of mine convinced me to go on a day hike in the Adirondacks. Little did I know my first hiking jaunt would Porter Mountain, the 38th highest peak in New York State!
Needless to say, after much effort and contemplation on the status of my sanity, reaching that peak was one of the best experiences of my life! I never would have thought myself capable of such an accomplishment neither mentally nor physically. I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis so ever day I can walk without pain is a blessing, being able to hike was never a thought on the horizon for me.
Having truly caught the hiking “bug” I have gone back to the Adirondacks and Lake George multiple times to experience the grueling an rewarding sights of Mother Nature.
I took a break from hiking when COVID hit as the hospital I am working for was inundated with cases, so days off practically didn’t exist for me. Now that work has calmed down a bit, I’m focusing more on what gets my Serotonin flowing naturally–being outdoors!
My goal this year is to start on a life goal of mine: hiking the Appalachian Trail (AT). I am not lucky enough to be able to take time off work to thru-hike the trail, and honestly it would be difficult with my Rheumatoid Arthritis as well. So…I have decided to section hike the AT over the course of years. Keep checking back to see my progress!
